About the speaker

Dr. Schallen has been practicing medicine for over 25 years, and is the Medical Director of the Candela Institute for Excellence (CIE). She combines her interests in lasers, aesthetic medicine, research and teaching in her daily practice. Dr. Schallen is an Honors graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Medical School. She previously served on the clinical faculty at the Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis, following completion of her internship in General Surgery and residency in Emergency Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and currently serves on the medical staff of Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. As Candela’s Global VP of Clinical Operations and Medical Director, she has worked with leading physicians and industry experts in lasers and energy-based medical devices in over 40 countries.
