Social media ratings of minimally invasive fat reduction procedures: Benchmarking against traditional liposuction

Data from 11,871 patient reviews on RealSelf.com for minimally invasive fat reduction procedures (e.g., cryolipolysis, laser, radiofrequency, ultrasound, etc.) and liposuction were compared. Treatments with UltraShape had a higher percentage of positive reviews than other procedures, with 91% - highest patient satisfaction rate - with UltraShape Power treatments.

Study Details:

• Data from RealSelf.com were reviewed for all minimally invasive fat reduction procedures
• 13 minimally invasive fat reduction procedures (e.g., cryolipolysis, laser, radiofrequency, ultrasound, etc.) were compared with liposuction 
• At total of 11,871 patient reviews were assessed

Study Results:

• Liposuction had 4,645 total reviews and a 66% satisfaction rate 
• Liposuction had statistically significantly higher patient satisfaction than cryolipolysis (55% satisfied, n = 2,707 reviews), laser therapies (61% satisfied, n = 3,565 reviews), and injectables (49% satisfied, n = 319 reviews) (p < .05)
• UltraShape had 275 reviews and a 73% patient satisfaction rate
• 91% - highest patient satisfaction rate with UltraShape Power (n=22 reviews)
