Nordlys® Clinical Evidence Compendium

The Nordlys® multi-application device by Candela is one of the most versatile platforms on the market, offering 4 distinct technologies to treat in-demand conditions including benign pigmented and vascular lesions, skin resurfacing, and hair removal. Nordlys system technologies comprise Selective Waveband Technology (SWT®) narrowband Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), non-ablative fractional 1550 nm and 1940 nm lasers and the Nd:YAG laser for a platform that addresses 22 clinical indications.

SWT is a unique narrowband state-of-the-art IPL with an advanced dual-filter technology engineered to cut off potentially harmful wavelengths on both sides of the spectrum, along with an exceptional ability to deliver true sub-millisecond pulses that redefine IPL treatment. The system offers a variety of SWT applicators with wavelength ranges of 400-720 nm, 530-750 nm, 555-950 nm, 600-950 nm, and 645-950 nm, providing a solution to a wide range of aesthetic conditions.

The non-ablative, fractional 1550 nm and 1940 nm diode lasers allow for dual-depth skin resurfacing and treatment of benign pigmented lesions (1940 nm laser). These laser applicators deliver energy to the skin, as arrays of micro thermal zones (MTZs) that can penetrate the skin to coagulate confined structures of the epidermis and dermis, while preserving the stratum corneum. This initiates a controlled wound healing response of the treated areas that assists with tissue regeneration and reduced patient downtime compared to ablative resurfacing. The additional Nd:YAG laser further expands treatment opportunities. An integrated SoftCool™ system allows for skin cooling for patient comfort and safety during treatment.

This compendium includes a selection of studies and results that capture the breadth of clinical evidence and versatility of using the Nordlys multi-application system.
