SWT is proprietary technology on Nordlys system IPL applicators that protects skin from unnecessary light and heat. It includes light and water filters, as well as customized pulse technology. The elements of SWT technology include:

  • Dual Light Filters: Dual-light filtering SWT eliminates potentially harmful wavelengths above 950 nm, creating highly selective wavebands that target chromophores. SWT technology minimizes unnecessary heat and light to deliver precise narrowband IPL with unrivaled skin protection.8-9 Treatments require half the fluence compared to broadband IPL10, translating to improved comfort and reduced downtime. Practitioners can use multiple technologies in a single session, all without compromising results.
  • Water Filter: Water filters are within each SWT applicator. Light filters through the water for added skin protection. This innovative approach selectively filters light to reduce skin heating, minimizing the risk of burns, pigmentation changes, and scarring.

Practitioners can fully customize light pulses delivered on the Nordlys, with capabilities to adjust the pulse duration, delay, number, and sequence. This increases operator efficiency, protects the epidermis, enhances treatment outcomes, and improves patient comfort.

The Nordlys device also features the unique ability to deliver sub-millisecond pulses (0.5 ms - 99.5 ms range). This approach uses less energy to target chromophores compared to traditional IPL systems. SWT achieves purpura-free coagulation of smaller blood vessels, making it the ideal device to clear rosacea-associated diffuse redness.

Aesthetic and medical treatments should not use a “one size fits all” approach, as each patient’s skin and goals are unique. Practitioners can customize treatment parameters with SWT by adjusting the wavelength, pulse duration, and energy levels. With these capabilities, you can tailor solutions directly to the patient’s skin condition, skin type, and desired look.

The Nordlys series features a user-friendly interface, making it easy for practitioners to navigate and adjust settings. The intuitive design makes the treatment process as seamless as possible. Plus, the Nordlys and Nordlys Mini systems are as quiet as a whisper, making for a relaxing treatment experience.

How it works

Innovative technology targets multiple skin concerns

The Nordlys device emits precise light pulses to the desired treatment area. The selective wavelength of light is absorbed by the chromophore relevant to the specific treatment:

  • To remove hair, IPL targets melanin in the hair follicles.
  • To resolve vascular lesions, light targets hemoglobin in the blood vessels.

As the chromophores absorb the light, it transforms into heat. This heat destroys hair follicles for a long-lasting hair removal solution. It also destroys blood vessels in vascular lesions, clearing the skin.

edit

The Nordlys platform’s multiple handpiece technologies allow practitioners to expand their treatment offerings to include skin resurfacing, clearance of vascular and pigmented lesions, as well as IPL-based hair removal.

The Nordlys Mini is ideal for low-to-no downtime non-ablative laser skin treatments for improving skin texture (via skin resurfacing), and treatment of benign pigmented lesions (1940 nm).

The Nordlys and Nordlys Mini are used in medical spas, dermatology clinics, and laser and cosmetology centers in the United States and around the world.

Available Nordlys Series laser platforms

The Nordlys Series includes: Nordlys and Nordlys Mini

Nordlys®

A versatile multi-application platform that offers Selective Waveband Technology (SWT) intense pulsed light (IPL) applicators, two high-ROI non-ablative fractional lasers (1550 and 1940), and a Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser. The Nordlys device provides a wide range of treatments ideal for everyday aesthetic and dermatological practices. The platform allows treatment of conditions ranging from benign pigmented lesions, vascularity, textural irregularities, and even hair removal.

Nordlys Mini

A non-ablative fractional laser (NAFL) platform that offers 1940 nm and 1550 nm applicators, with minimal consumables for high-ROI treatments. Its 1550 and 1940 applicators provide both deeper and more shallow skin resurfacing. The 1940 laser also addresses benign pigmented lesions often caused by aging and sun damage. Because the lasers are non-ablative, they have low downtime. These same two lasers are also found on the Nordlys multi-application device.
