What is Light & Bright

Candela's signature skin-illuminating treatment, available exclusively through the Nordlys system.

The Light & Bright treatment offered by the Nordlys system is an exciting new aesthetic treatment that can remove dark spots, reduce redness, and improve textural irregularities via skin resurfacing. The treatment combines two advanced technologies found on the Nordlys system. Light & Bright treatment uses both an intense pulsed light (IPL) technology called SWT® IPL and a Frax 1550 laser on the face and chest areas to rejuvenate* your skin. The treatment does not break the skin, so the downtime is minimal.

*Skin rejuvenation is defined as the treatment of benign pigmented lesions (pigmentation/dark spots) and vascular lesions (vascularity).
How It Works

The Selective Waveband Technology (SWT®) IPL technology used in a Light & Bright treatment uses small controlled bursts of light, which directly target unsightly blood vessels or excess melanin within your skin, reducing age spots, freckles, redness and sun damage.* Ellipse IPL technology is unique, filtering out harmful light wavelengths compared to the older technology of standard IPL's1

The Frax 1550 technology rejuvenates** the skin by delivering very small, controlled bursts of energy to reduce textural irregularities. The Frax 1550 handpiece is FDA indicated for use in dermatological procedures requiring the coagulation of soft tissue, as well as for skin resurfacing procedures.

*Via treatment of benign pigmented lesions (pigmentation/dark spots) and vascular lesions (vascularity).
**Improvement of textural irregularities via skin resurfacing.

What to expect

Prior to your Light & Bright treatment, you and your healthcare provider will meet to discuss your treatment goals. It is important to avoid tanning (sun, tanning salons and self-tanning products) before and during the treatment period.

The Light & Bright treatment consists of a course of 3 sessions, but this may vary according to what will be treated. Your healthcare provider will review with you how many sessions you may need.

Your healthcare provider may use an anesthetic/numbing cream to reduce discomfort. The treatment procedure will generally take between 30-45 minutes.

After treatment, your skin may benefit from applying a cold damp cloth to your face or from using an ointment prescribed by your healthcare provider.

You may notice a sloughing off of some skin or a darkening of some pigmented spots for a few days following the treatment. After that, you will find your skin looks smoother, fresher and glowing.

Talk to your healthcare provider about what you can expect with your individual treatment.

FAQs

The Light & Bright™ treatment is an aesthetic treatment that can remove dark spots, reduce redness, and address textural irregularities via skin resurfacing. The treatment uses two complementary advanced technologies found on the Nordlys™ system. The Light & Bright treatment uses both a patented intense pulsed light (IPL) technology called SWT (Selective Wavelength Technology) IPL and a Frax 1550™ laser on the face and chest areas to rejuvenate* your skin.

*Skin rejuvenation is defined as the treatment of benign pigmented lesions (pigmentation/dark spots) and vascular lesions (vascularity).

If you have unsightly blood vessels or redness, excess melanin in your skin sometimes due to sun damage, or your skin has textural irregularities that bother you, then Light & Bright treatment may be right for you. A Light & Bright treatment provider can assess your skin and condition and determine whether the treatment will meet your needs.

The IPL used in the Light & Bright treatment is called SWT IPL. It is a narrowband wavelength IPL, meaning it cuts off broader light bands that are not always necessary to treat a given condition. Some other IPL’s use broadband IPL light. The SWT IPL technology filters out some higher harmful wavelengths of the broader bands of light and fewer treatments may be needed compared to older IPL technologies.1

The cost of Light & Bright treatment will be determined by your treatment provider. It may vary depending on the condition and size of area treated. Typically, insurance will not cover Light & Bright treatment. This is common for most aesthetic treatments.
