If you’re like many of the practitioners we work with, the past few months have been pretty stressful for you and your practice. While things have improved some, many practices are still struggling to adapt to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
To help, here are a few suggestions to help you clear your mind, focus back in on what is important in your professional life, and position your practice for success in the coming months.
Review and Reflect
Running a practice is a lot of work. Between seeing patients, returning phone calls, overseeing marketing efforts, and taking care of all the other minutiae you deal with every day, it can be hard to find time to take a step back and take a look at the big picture.
Guess what? Thanks to Covid-19, you’ve suddenly got a lot more time on your hands.
Strip down your practice piece by piece to figure out what is and isn’t working. Examine your financials, perhaps even going back 5 years. Go through every aspect of your practice and see what’s working, what isn’t and what can be improved.
While the current situation is certainly stressful, if you use this time to focus on improving what you can control, this tricky time may be just what your practice needs to really take things to the next level.
Protect Your Image
In the early days of the Covid-19 crisis, there was a rush across many industries to offer deals or special post-pandemic sales to customers just to maintain some sort of regular cash flow. While understandable, this may not be the best time to keep trying to aggressively push sales to your customer base.
After all, they’re probably hurting for cash, too.
So, instead of pushing sales, push education. Your patients might not feel comfortable coming in for a procedure right away, but if you’re there for them during the pandemic, they’ll be eager for your services once things have finally calmed down.
Getting Back to Business
As things slowly begin to pick up, things are going to be different. Even the boldest of patients may initially be apprehensive when they return to your practice. Your staff will likely be nervous as well. It’s important to develop a strategy now to figure out what your practice will look like when you do reopen.
It’s a lot to think through, but the more thoughtful you are now, the smoother things will go as your practice transitions back into full activity.
Dealing with a Pandemic
The good news is, this isn’t the first time that society has been faced with a regional or global crisis. Millions of people, including healthcare owners and operators, are now being faced with the same sort of challenge.
The question is, how will you respond?
