The Importance of Google My Business Profiles for Aesthetic Clinics

One of the most challenging aspects of running an aesthetic clinic has to do with the age-old question: How can people find you? While word-of-mouth and friend referrals are great, the fact is that online searches are still one of the best ways for new customers to find out about your business. Hereby we present to you: Google Business Profiles guide 2022 for aesthetic clinics.

As an aesthetic clinic, a Google Business Profile (previously Google My Business) is indispensable for your business. You’ve seen them before: These are the little info boxes that show up when you search about a business or terms closely related to it. This is also the reason why businesses show up on Google Maps when you are browsing around the area. Often, it will also display reliable customer reviews.

If you are at all familiar with these info boxes, chances are you’ve also run across the bad ones. Misleading information, wrong business hours, or even a nonexistent entity despite an address because the business has moved somewhere else but forgot to update its Google Business Profile. Other times you may find a great business and want to revisit it, only to find that they do not show up on Google Maps at all.

Both of these cases are things you’d want to avoid, as they may cause you to lose customers and earn a poor reputation. Imagine the opportunity costs this can incur to your clinic! This is why aesthetic clinics need to create and actively maintain their Google Business Profiles. Below are the finer details on how to do so.

Creating and Managing Your Google Business Profile

The first step is, of course, to make sure you have a Google Business Profile. To do this, you need to have a Google Business Profile Manager and log in to your account. You can then add your business, enter your location, fill in your contact information, and verify your business.

Once you have a Google Business Profile, you can complete your profile. This can take a while, so make sure you dedicate enough time for it in your business days. According to Google1, customers are 2.7 times more likely to consider a business reputable if they find a complete Business Profile on Google Search and Maps. They are also 70% more likely to visit and 50% more likely to consider visiting businesses with a complete Business Profile. Certainly, earning this much exposure for your clinic is worth investing a bit of time into.

The important part is to have complete and optimised business information on your page. Make sure everything is relevant and up to date, including the full address, contact information, description, opening hours, and other details that may be relevant. You should also take some time to make sure you have prepared the best and most representative photos and videos of your clinic for your profile, as this will be the face of your aesthetic clinic in public searches.

Maintaining and Updating Your Google Business Profile

The Google Business Profile of your clinic should not be a one-time done deal. Remember the bad examples we cited above? Most of the time, they were created enthusiastically in the beginning, only to be forgotten and never updated again.

As your aesthetic clinic evolves, so too should your page. If you have new services, make sure to add them to the page. If you change your opening hours, business contact, or other details, make sure to update that information as well. New machines in your clinic? New look, lighting, and decoration? Update them on your page! Even if you think you have nothing new, it’s always a good idea to regularly add new photos and videos to your page as you go. This will give the impression that your aesthetic clinic is always up to date and relevant.

Another important factor in the Google Business Profile of your aesthetic clinic is the customer reviews. When you can, ask your customers to leave reviews on your Google Business Profile. The best way to do this is via sharing short URLs2 that you can get on your Dashboard or mobile app. But do be mindful—it’s against Google’s review policies to solicit reviews through incentives or other methods, so make sure you do no more than necessary and leave the rest to your customers.

Troubleshooting Your Google Business Profile

Going back to our bad examples from earlier, it may be the case that some business profiles are not maintained by the business owner or have otherwise been heavily edited. Your Google Business Profile is public, which means that anyone can suggest edits to your page. In rare cases, you may even find that your aesthetic clinic has been claimed by someone else before you get the chance to register it.

Fortunately, there are ways to mitigate this3. For ill-intentioned negative reviews and other inappropriate feedback, Google has a flag button that allows you to report the post in question. Additionally, Google also reviews suggested edits on a regular basis. For disputes of ownership, Google will provide you with a series of questions and verification methods. It might be a pain in the neck, but no need to fret—there are steps you can take to resolve the issue and reclaim the face of your aesthetic clinic on public searches.

There may be times, however, that your Google Business Profile fails those verifications. Worse, you may find that your profile, for one reason or another, gets suspended. When this happens, the first thing you should do is to check whether you have inadvertently gone against their guidelines4. When you are sure you did nothing wrong, contact Google Business Profile support directly to get the issue resolved as soon as possible.

Dedicate Time for Your Google Business Profile

As an aesthetic clinic, it’s very important that you make yourself visible on online searches and Google Maps. This will allow customers to find you much more easily. For this purpose, a Google Business Profile is indispensable.

While it may sound simple and straightforward—sign up, fill in some fields, and you’re done—there are a few finer details to anticipate. Sure, it might take some dedicated time to complete your profile, add media, and update it on a regular basis, but the difference this makes is customer turnout will be worth the effort.

The key is to maintain your Google Business Profile as optimised and relevant as possible. This way, your aesthetic clinic will stand out a lot more among your competitors.
